I've done some consulting work for a large agri. seed/chemical company in the past, and they contacted me, again yesterday....can't mention the company name just yet, but it's a 6 month project, starting in late January....the pay, with expenses, is excellent, and I set my own hours.
They are sending me out of state, sometime after the first of the year, for a project session with the big wigs.

I'll be consulting directly with farmers, and I really like meeting and dealing with country folks on a grass-root level.

Presently, I'm under sorta a gag order, due to the fierce competition between these companies, releasing new products, but I'll fill in the details later.

Since the farm is leased out, and I'm sorta semi-"retarded", anyway, I've got the time to take this on....wife said she'll be glad to get me outta the house, anyway. ;)

I'm still sitting here on my deer stand....been here since 6 am, and haven't seen a single deer, bird, squirrel, or armadillo...however, I've been entertained, watching two ladybugs screwing on the window sill....pretty sure they are lezbos, doing their 69 thing. ;)

Sounds like a cover story for a gigantic weed growing operation to me.

Sorry, Arty, when I left, they were kicked back, smoking a joint, with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the window. ;)

Sounds like a sweet gig, being fully retired isn't for everyone, need a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Have fun.
I turn 72 next month, been retired from my educational job going on 15 years now, but have enjoyed my part time home office job ever since.
Gets me out of the house, meeting with clients and doing things I really enjoy, extra $$$ ain't bad either.
Heck, even the Captain can't hunt/fish/farm 24/7, he needs to work a day or so just to keep him able to talk to another human being.

Congrats to you Muddy. Hope the new gig doesn't cut into your relaxation time.

I agree with JB. If I did nothing but sit around the house all day, I'd go stir-crazy! Considering I can't do much of anything that's half way physically challenging, this eBay gig has worked out extremely well for me. I get out of the house a couple days a week and interact with a bunch of people ... then I can work at my own pace at home (plus I have fun with it). If my back gives out on me, it's about 10 steps to the bedroom for a bit of rest, then I'm good to go again. And yes, the extra pocket change is a BIG plus ... especially at my poverty level income. ;)

BTW Muddy, another major plus is the fact they need YOU ... you do NOT need THEM. That adds a nice little check-mark to your side of the win column. Congrats!

Thanks guys, ya'll all hit the nail on the head....I've never been one to sit around the house, either, and always have some sorta project going on around the farm....the only draw back is it's gonna cut into some of my late season deer, squirrel, and rabbit hunting, but if I never kill another one of any of them, I've sho'nuf killed my share, already.

It's only a 6 month project....heck, if the money was right, and I absolutely HAD to, I could prolly stay in a closed room with Thumper for 6 months, even if he was eating bean tacos every meal.

Ohhh sheeit, wait a minute, I take that back !!!!! ;););)

My retirement job will be one of a few choices I've considered.

Home Depot guy. I could work in any department there.
The real estate sign installer guy. Easy peasy since you don't have to dig post holes any more and need a pickup truck.
Real estate property photographer. Duh
Open my guitar case in downtown yuppieville and get some change thrown in there while I play song and make fun of people under my breath.

There's no shortage of heathens

Obviously you haven't priced greens and cracklin bread in an upscale establishment lately

plenty of fish, no place to fish. Might have to seek greener pastures

Thump should have plenty of stools handy

I'd have to be forced to eat leaves and acorns before I'd do any kind of work, ever.

Which, in fact, is both possible and likely, but...........whatever......

Congrats muddy!
Cappy, you wish...
Once I retire, like 20 years from know, my hobby will include some type of manual work, either related to boating/hunting/fishing...

My dream is to kill lionfish and to volunteer to help clean up the parks in the Bonaire marine sanctuary. I might also be that old guy that takes tourists for Mt. Bike tours of the island... :)
