Monsanto is sending me up there for a 2 day seminar....I've been to St. Louis only once, and that was years ago....wife is going with me, so she'll need some places to see, while I'm in meetings....btw, they've booked our room at the Ameristar Casino, overlooking the Missouri River....heck, I might take crappie pole. ;)

Anyone have any suggestions for us???....thanks.

I don't know if you will have a car or how you or her will get around, but I'd highly recommend taking her to dinner in an area called 'The Hill'. Its an Italian section of St Louis and is very quaint with awesome food and atmosphere. Its down in St Louis and you'll be a ways out west of there in St Charles.
A closer place she might like exploring is an area called Westport. Its by where highway 40 and I270 meet. Lots of good shopping and restaurants there too and it's closer.
My all time favorite Italian restaurant in the worl is just down the road from where you'll be. It's called John Mineo's and its not too far from where you will be.

Hey, Cap, I guess Google knows I'm a Mason....when I searched places of interest, the first thing that popped up was a picture of the Masonic Hall, right down the street from the hotel....it's listed on the historical registry, so maybe I can make a Lodge meeting with them.

Thx, Postie, I'm taking notes....I'd let them fly me, if I was going by myself, but we decided to just drive, as it's only about 6 hours, straight up I-55 from here.

I've only been there once and it was for a conference so I was pretty booked up most of the time. The Arch is touristy, but worth a visit. The Budweiser brewery tour was cool as well. And, Posty is right about some good eats in the Italian section of town.

I f you go to the Arch, the museum of Westward Expansion is right under it and is the better of the two attractions IMO.

I agree on the Westport suggestion. It's easy to get to and a lot of choices there. Not sure if it's still there or not but there was Dierdorf and Harts steak house at Westport.

The arch and westward expansion museum are neat but if you are claustrophobic don't go up the arch. The elevators are pretty tight.

I've eaten at that Dierdorf and Hart's and it was dang good. Unfortunately it is closed. The Bristol Seafood Grill is also good and also out further west of downtown. Near Creve Coeur.

Dang, I used to run up to St. Louis from Memphis a bazillion years ago, but I'm sure most everything has changed since then! The last time I was there was just before my surgery in 2009. I was picking up a load of beer at the Budweiser plant right at the base of the arch! I had trailer problems and ended up spending the night there. One of the plant workers invited me to ride along with him to a new (new at that time anyway) BBQ place in town called Pappy's Smokehouse. It was pretty darn good (Memphis style) BBQ. I'm sure that's not what you're looking for, especially since the wife will be with you, but good BBQ is a weak spot of mine, so I figured I'd mention it. I assume it's still there.

It has been several years since I've been out that way.
