Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens, January 17, 1781 near Chesnee, South Carolina. I don't know where that is so maybe you can point it out to me. The Battle of Cowpens is the one depicted at the end of the movie, The Patriot. It was one of two battles, along with Kings Mountain, that turned the tide against old General Cornwallis.

So, salute! And happy anniversary of a big moment in our history!

I've not walked a revolutionary battlefield like I have Civil War ones. I need to go that some day.

Looks like you may have driven thru it on your way to Ruby iffi'n you took the faster northern route thru SC. You prolly have a natural resistance to going north.

It's just south of Charlotte basically on the State line on interstate 85. Kings mountain is in NC and Cowpens is in SC literally a few chuncks apart. It's about an hour from my NC house so come stay there sometime and I'll take you. It is very interesting.

Larke, I remember you pointing out some place where the militia hid out during the war. I just don't remember where it was.

Right below the farm is Black Creek swamp where the mission where Francis Marion (the swamp fox AKA the Ghost in the movie) and his men hid. It between the farm and Forence SC and I was born in a house on the side of Black Creek Swamp.

I think when we were coming back from fishing and passed by the south side of fram you may have pointed it out.

Lots of history there! I'd love to metal detect around there some time. Of course, its probably been over a hundred times already.
