Supper in 45 minutes.....

Took Sandy about 45 minutes, this morning, to tree these for my supper....they're all males, so I'm parboiling, then frying them....wifey's got mustard greens, purple top turnips, and cornbread on the stove, too.




She's still got it.....and, deserves this nap !!!

You can cut them up salt and pepper then put in a crockpot all night on low. In the morning, take them out with a spatula and dust with flour and chunk them in that hot grease until good and brown. Add a little flour and milk and make gravy right in the skillet with the crumbles. Add some cathead biscuits and you've got a meal fit for a king

Yep, I couldn't pick up that one quick enough....she's gonna eat the head, every time....that's her prize for doing a good job....I really don't mind her eating them occasionally, but too many of those squirrel teeth aren't good for her tummy.

I've eaten a lot of squirrel, but it was always just too damned stringy for me. And dark. Beef is about the only dark red meat that I like to be honest. And of course, venison. I can do some damage to some government goat. But squirrel just never floated my boat. I mainly ate 'em because I loved to hunt them as a boy. We used to have arguments over whether it was sporting to hunt them with a shotgun.

Yep, oughta be against the law for an adult to use a shotgun on a squirrel....kids with a .410 or 20 gauge, just beginning to learn to hunt is okay, however. ;)

I probably could make an exception for a pot of young greys in some squirrel dumplins. I had an aunt that could make them so good you'd want to lick the pot and your plate.
