Our local hospital offered a heart health screening, which included a CT scan, an abdominal scan, carotid scan, and leg/arm scans....they told us these tests would normally cost about $3,000, but they offered them for $150.

All of my tests were good/normal, except the heart calcium, which was a little high at 520, and they suggested a follow-up with my doctor.

Any of you guys ever had the heart calcium scans, and know more about it???

Thx.

P.S. One of my buddies had these same tests run, and his score was over 800....they sent him straight to a cardiologist.

I know the score will elevate with age but I don't have any idea of how much or what is dangerous. I'd call a doctor before I'd ask any of these Republicans.

And a $3000 service for $150 bucks.

Right!

It's another score for how much crap is in the major arteries near your heart. Information is power in this situation. Go to the doc. don't fiddle around.

It was just a health screening service offered by the new hospital here....I got lots of friends and doctors working there, and it's a first class facility.

All new equipment, and I know everyone single one of the rad. techs who administered the tests, so I have no problem with the accuracy of the tests.

And, I have every intention of visiting my doctor.

Well, sheeit, I'm a long-azzed way from zero!!! ....and, I've been on a maintenance dose of baby aspirin and Lipitor for years.

The weird thing about this is, we've buried 6 people around here in just the past few weeks, both men and women....they were fairly active folks, and not heavy drinkers, smokers, obese, or really old folks....one was a tennis player....just makes you wonder, huh???
