Larke and myself made a hell of a long trip to see old Niner.
He sure had fun. And so did we.

I hooked up with Ol' Niner many times when I'd go to Atlanta. I miss that guy. Di is a total sweetheart also and I don't know what he'd have done without her toward the end. RIP Mr. Niner.

That trip was totally Bush's fault!

He was good people in every way you can measure. That's for certain. I regret never meeting him in person and I'm not very big on regrets in general.

Good time for sure. I miss talking to him. He was an original.

Larke, do you remember Bill "teaching" Di how to make cornbread in his cast iron skillet?
Funny, relatable, and sad all at the same time. I literally witnessed him coach her through on how to do something that I know for a fact he had done a hunnert times before. Knowing that it was probably that last time she had to suffer through his step by step instructions was incredible. Hit home. Makes you enjoy the little things. I'm sure she would love to have him there right now telling her "now you can't just pour it in there, you have to make sure it's hot enough."

Oh Yea, I remember. That is a wonderful woman and never let on she knew exactly how to make cornbread.
I sure miss him. We hunted and fished for years. I still see and hear him around the lower pond every time I go down there fishing.

I raised a glass to Niner last evening. Just one. And just for him.
One of my biggest regrets is not getting out to see him and meet him.

I raised a glass of apple pie. It made me feel right spry this morning...

How long after your trip did Co9 pass?

How long after your trip did Co9 pass?

According to the March 14 time stamp, a couple of months. Bill passed on May 19th.

(Good Hunting trivia: We actually shared first names ... he was a James also ... William was his middle name)
