Heading out tomorrow for a trip to Europe with a stopover in Manitoba for my MIL's memorial service. Will be doing London, France and Netherlands over 10 days or so. It's not a trip I would have chosen but my SIL organized this as a family trip (her, BIL and wife and us) so go we must. Will be attending the Vimy 100 Commemoration ceremony, which is a big deal for Canadians (HIGH security which might be a pain), on 9 April as well as a bunch of historical sites so should be pretty interesting.

Sounds pretty cool Johnboy. Sounds like one of those vacations that may not sound like the top of your list to begin with but wind up being really cool and memorable.

I didn't know anything about the battle of Vimy ridge. That there was some ballsy stuff. No way the pussies we're raising today would do something like that.

Dang, I was in the Netherlands and France a few months ago (skipped London for Greece) ... we should have timed our trips better!

War is hell no matter where, when or by who it was fought. I'm not sure that I could have stood up and marched forward into machine gun fire like so many did but I thank them for their courage.

No doubt trench warfare is about as close to hell as you're going to get without an escort from Lucifer.

Actually lucifer who is mentioned in Isaiah 14 was probably a reference to the king of Babylon, likely the father of
Nebuchadnezzar. The word is translated morning star referring to the planet Venus which is visible in the morning about once every 584 days.

So... you're saying Lucifer's not the one that will be taking Jimmy to hell? Or Jimmy is going to Mars instead? This is confusing!

Sounds like a great trip Johnboy! Safe travels!
That Vimy Ridge battle sounds like a tough one. Actually, we seem to have blotted out how awesomely terrible WWI actually was. 7,000 dead and wounded at Vimy. The Battle of Arras, of which this was part there was over 150,000 dead and wounded on the Allied side alone. In a MONTH. Unimagineable.

Enjoy your trip!

Don't forget that the Spanish lady killed about a brazillion people during WW1

I read that the end of the war was actually brought about because of the huge numbers of military dying from that flu. No troops left to die in battle, I guess.

Tx and see you all in a couple or three weeks if the terrorists don't get us.

Behave.
