if we had fishing forum I would have put this there. I'm looking for a good braided line. I'm trying to get back into jig fishing and a want a small diameter line that's flexible enough to realistically "swim" a jig. Used to be that Spiderwire was the only show in town but lots of folks are getting in on the act now.

I'd appreciate any suggestions

Power pro or basspro brand. It is made by power pro and is the same line. Just colored differently. I use it for jig fishing all the time. The smallest you can get is 10 pound. It's the size of 4 pound line.

I use power pro. 10lb test seems to have the diameter of 2lb mono and the strength of 50lb test. Pretty sure we've left the realm of science and the new line choices we have are closer to sorcery of some sort.

Its all a matter of personal preference. Mine is Sufix Advanced Superline. I run 30# test which is 8# diameter.

If what Larke says is true, I'll be buying BPS brand this year. He's kinda sketchy, though :)

Very topical as I loaned Egghead in if my fishing rods last weekend and he admonished me severely about the condition of my line.

I'm not a frequent line changer either. On my flouro reels about every other year. On the braid ones, maybe every three or four.

Now, if that had been me (being the nice guy that I am), I'd have returned those borrowed reels with fresh line installed. :stirthepot

I was able to get in on the "braid" thing early.. Pretty much all the "early" ones sent us line to field test. First I received was Spiderwire. I fell immediately in love. Unfortunately, the early stuff would literally disintegrate after extended use. Over the years I've pretty much I've pretty much exclusively gone with Power Pro. I doubt if I have over 3-4 reels spooled with mono. I did buy some cheaper stuff in 60 and 80 to run on the catfish rods. It's limper - but seems to hold up well. oh, btw.. I run it for 3-4 years then unspool it and run it on "backwards".. and run it another 3-4. I'll be checking on the BP.. thnx.. Cap'n.

I've only used braided line for 3 years, but so far I'm liking Power Pro.
