6.0 pounds this morning. We had a great day of fishing.
big numbers, good quality, and not bad company.

Larke, I caught a bunch of the light brown Larke lure body with the gold blade. They were chumps for it.
This fell to a chart and white Kinami Flash.

Has that fish already been mounted....looks like all it's missing is a board on the back....you must be teaching ole Bird Dog some of yo' tricks.....did you pay him his dollar??? ;););)

Nice feesh, btw.

Fishing isn't a competition, Muddy. Its an experience. Some folks want to spoil it by wagering on it. They're typically the ones that welch on it too.

Never heard of a Bif Fish. Are they edible? They look much like a Largemouth Bass to me. Are they in the same family? ;)

probably a question for the imaginary fishing forum but I'm curious, what do you fellers do when you catch a bass that big? I'll admit, I don't bass fish nearly as much as I used to and now it's primarily for the purpose of fillets. I've probably caught 50+ bass in the 5-7lb range and I have never had any desire to mount one. As I've gotten older I see no need to keep one that size for the table since there are plenty of yearlings for that purpose. I'll keep them up to about three lbs but after that I release them

What say ye?

I keep some fish, bass are great table fare, every once in a while. My ideal keeper bass is about a pound and a half I'd say. I don't keep anything over that. Nine fish is my usual bag limit. A good sized fish fry and leftovers for the next day. I love cold fried fish.

About the only time I keep bass is if we have a pond that is badly overpopulated and obviously stunted. If I'm going to eat them, it will usually be through the ice. Anything over 2 pounds here is usually "musty" and not fit to eat.

I don't keep fish to eat. If someone is with me that wants a mess I don't mind keeping all they want.
But for me if I'm gonna eat fish, I'll go to a fish camp and order them.

The more I look at that picture, the more convinced I am that Birddog has likely killed a few orcs during his time in middle earth.

Looks like he might have from the line of Dori. Or maybe Balin

The youngsters at work called him Uncle Jesse. But if you'd known him in his long haired, long bearded days, you might have thought him a cousin of Glimli.
