That looks like the real thing!

True story....I've been researching a lot of early Oklahoma history the past year or so. One of the things I read was a journal of Washington Irving's trip here in 1830 called 'A Tour on The Prairies'. In it, he mentions several times the livestock foraging on pea vines. Said they were everywhere and they rarely had to supplement feed for their gorse in the two months they were here. Having lived here my whole damn life I don't know that I've ever seen a legume or forb like that, at least not in that quantity. Long story short, I think it almost has to be a bitterfly pea, or technically called clitoria mariana. And it does kind of look like a little man in a boat.
