I was dressed and making coffee to head to work and saw a couple fish flip around at the edge Of my dock.
Having just spent the last few days cleaning and re-spooling my rods and reels, I felt it was a sign to out there and see what's what.

1st cast. Only cast. I had to get to work!

Just for comparison, those are 1x6 deck boards. She was about 13 inches long. That's gotta be the biggest "bluegill" I've ever caught.
Maybe I'll catch her again tomorrow.

Business casual? Most of the fish in Arkansas go shirtless and wear cutoff jeans and flip flops.

Okay I'll bite, that ain't a bluegill. Now you caught two on one cast

I'm calling it a shell cracker.
But to be safe it's a bream...

I took that off a Virginia fish identification chart. That would explain how Arty catches them.

To keep the bottom clean i guess

We don't need no foreign ass fish in our waters to clean them up. If we do, then we're screwiing the water up and need to fix that, not introduce new fish.

Sorry for the rant, but I think we're gonna have a water crisis here soon.

Yea, you got that playing keep away from fish down pat, I've never seen anyone throw such good equipment and great bait and catch LESS. I was 8 fish to your one when I quit counting because I felt sorry for you.
I don't need any of your lessons.

He probably would support it as long as Japan pays for it.

A tilapia is some african fish they give to yuppies to make them think they're eating something good. And I think they are vegetarian fish at that. WTF?

BKB

They eat hippo poop so I guess technically that makes them vegetarian.

Not unlike yuppies

tilapia is gross.

Tilapia are the buzzards of the fish world. You can literally put them in a septic tank and they will live. True.
They had a bad name and folks would not eat them so they changed the name to tilapia and put a promotion effort behind it and let people think they are eating some farm raised fair. They took off
But make no mistake that is a nasty fish.

BarryBobPosthole

Its is a nasty fish and it is an invasive species. If you wanna eat them, fine, but don't raise them in Amurican waters.

"Freshwater aquaculture produces species that are native to rivers, lakes, and streams. U.S. freshwater aquaculture is dominated by catfish but also produces trout, tilapia, and bass. Freshwater aquaculture takes place primarily in ponds and on land in manmade systems such as a recirculating aquaculture system."

What a bunch'o wussy whiners. Heck, I remember as a kid, white folk didn't eat catfish for the same reason. The black folk always thought we were nutbags. Personally, I have no problem with Talapia. I'm curious, would you dufes turn down a pulled pork BBQ sammich or a nice rack of ribs because of what pigs eat?

Arty

tilapia is gross.
Agree
And to think people pay good money in restaurants for them. A lot of people think they are eating a delicacy.
