I picked up that Sig 220 Elite 10mm i won and man is that thing a beast, I bet it weighs 3 pounds. It is really nice. So between it and the Colt 1911 Governent model I bought a while ago I have $535 in them both, not too shabby.

xellent.. I just got an excuse to buy a new gun.. Iowa is going to let us shoot deer with rifles.. provided they shoot "handgun" (straight wall) cartridges (there's a list). I've always loved lever guns.. I'm considering a Marlin or a Henry in either .357 or .44mag.

Contender also made a 45-70 barrel for their pistol frames in a 10" and 14" length. Straight wall pistol cartridge, did have a bit of recoil.

Indiana did the same thing a few years ago. Just last year they opened it up to certain rifle calibers as well.

Does Marlin still make the .444? That's a straight wall case. Not sure it would qualify as it's not a pistol cartridge.

You know some deer hunting rules make no sense, in Mississippi their primitive firearms season allows single shot breech loading rifles of .35 cal or bigger.

Now how is that primitive?

They are sticking with the now legal handgun cartridges - at least for this year. If the .450 Bushmaster was legal, I wouldn't even hesitate.

Only the following center-fire cartridges may be used: .357 Magnum, .357 Maximum, .375 Winchester, .38 Super, .40 S&W, .401 Powermag, 10 mm Auto, .41 Remington Magnum, .41 Action Express, .44 S&W Special, .44 Remington Magnum, .44 Automag, .444 Marlin, .445 Super Mag, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .45 Super Mag, .45 Winchester Magnum, .45 Silhouette, .451 Detonics, .454 Casull, .45-70 Govt., .460 Rowland, .460 S&W Mag, .475 Widley Magnum, .475 Linebaugh, .480 Ruger, .50 Action Express, .50 Linebaugh, .50 Beowulf and .500 S&W Mag.
