Every year during the pre-race ceremonies before the Indy 500 they pull out a bunch of vintage race cars that have won the 500. It's not uncommon to see cars from the 1920's through the early 2000's taking laps before the race. Not at speed, but it's still pretty cool.

I think I posted a video of the 1911 race winner taking laps last year.

They usually pull out one of the cars AJ Foyt won in each year too. This year to honor AJ's 60th consecutive years being involved in the 500 either as a driver or car owner, this generations closest comparison to Super Tex is going to drive AJ's 1961 winning car.

The 61 winner was number 1 because AJ was the National Champ that year. It's a red/white badass roadster.

Didn't he race a 12 car quite often? I don't know why that stuck in my head. I listened to most of those races on the radio (yes radio was a popular race broadcast format in the 60's) so I never really sawthat many televised races.

14 is 12 in Oklahoma. They like that out there.
