When we were in Greece, we stopped at a small street-side restaurant for a bite to eat. I had to snap a pic of the menu board. I'm thinking maybe the second item on the menu may have lost a little something in the translation. ;)

No whitebait is correct Hombre and I ordered some as an appetizer in London way back not knowing what it was. It's the fry of fish dredged in flower and deep fried.

What are those languages underneath?

And are there really British Restaurants?

Heck I don't know, but my first guess would be ..... ummm .... Greek maybe? ;)

Not sure about your second question, but yeah ... I've eaten in quite a few of them. I guess, technically, ANY restaurant in Britain would be a "British" restaurant. :) TBH, most English food doesn't do a whole lot for me. Outside of Fish & Chips, or some of their meat pies, I'm not a big fan.

meat pies?...what kind of meat be in those meat pies?...

The Britts normally refer to them as simply "pies", but for clarification here I added the word meat so you wouldn't think it was a dessert. They're similar to what we call "Pot Pies". Pick a meat, they probably have a pie with it.

"Meat pies" sounds like something outta a porn flick....sorta like a "cream pie". ;)

So, what would be your interpretation of a "pot pie"? :)

Smoking two big honking doobies, at the same time.

I love pot pies, but I'm afraid I'd have to draw the line at kidney pie. Brits seem to like their innards. In fact, most places I've travelled to eats a lot of disgusting shit.

Yep, they love their "steak & kidney" pies! Had 'em, not my favorite.

I do like a GOOD menudo, but what I like is hard to find. There was a place close to where I lived in LA that made some killer menudo, but I seriously doubt the place still exists. I stopped at a place in Roswell, New Mexico once that supposedly had excellent menudo. When I walked in, the place was packed (with Hispanics) and I figured it must be good. I couldn't eat it. Bummer, I was excited for a while there. :(

BTW, I have a funny "Thump story" regarding chitlins. No time to post it right now.

We have a really good family owned Mexican place in town that has menudo every Friday. I think every mexican person around here show up at El Fogon on Fridays.
But I still don't like it.

Sweet baby Jesus! I've tried tripe in some Vietnamese Pho (noodle soup), but I assumed it was mostly there for flavor. I just haven't been hungry enough to be eating stomach or intestines. So, you can keep the menudo, haggis, chittlin's and anything like them to yourselves.

Oh man! There's nothing better than a good bowl of Pho! We have our favorite place in Tampa and one in Orlando, but don't have a really good one close to the house. Lynn has the tripe at times, NOT one of my favorites.

I think drawing the line at eating guts is a pert near perfect place to draw aforementioned line.

You effers need to buy a fresher and better quality oyster. Man, I had some down in Loosiana that were so good it made me sad to stop chewing and swallow them.
