I am not convinced he is even a good actor. He almost always plays an eccentric weirdo in his movies, and he is an eccentric weirdo. I imagine casting go like "Johnny we just want you to be your self" Kind of like Charlie sheen playing Charlie in 2 and a half men, seemed like really good acting when in reality that was just Charlie being charlie.
