Big Time Coming Up!

I leave tomorrow morning for Moscow Mills, Mizzou where I'll meet up with my brotherfromadifferentmother Bob. We'll pick up Len, yep THAT Len, at the St Louis Airport Friday morning, hook up Bob's new boat and the three of us will head North. We're hoping to make it to International Falls Friday night, but anywhere within four of five hours of Dogtooth will do us good. We'll pull into Dogtooth noonish, ferry all our shit out to the Outpost by boat, and hopefully be fishing by midafternoon.
Its extra special since me and Renaldo had to miss last year and I hadn't missed a Dogtooth year since it all began in 2004. So this is trip #12 for me. (I think I'm finally starting to learn the lake)
Its also special because i get to watch Len ooh and ahh through the week as he sees Dogtooth for the first time. I told him to think about it when we were hunting at Captain's place in
December and it didn't take him long after to commit!
I've got all the chores done, truck detailed, tackle boxes sorted and cleaned up, and made a trip to Sams for a few supplies. We'll finalize that stuff on the way.
I'm gonna get my 30 incher this year! For real this time.

Up early and gonna be outta here by 9:00!

My wife didn't make things any easier! She somehow didn't neutralize the peroxide cleaner she was cleaning her contacts with and when she put the first one in it burned her eyeball. She went to her eye doc yesterday afyernoon and he gave her some antibiotic drops and saline and sent her home but the pain was so intense last night I had to take her to the ER. The doc there, after the requisite two hours of waiting in agony of course, gave her some numbing eye drops and it fixed her up. He slipped me the eye drops and told me to put them in my pocket as they only work for an hour or so at a time. We got home at midnight. I told her I'd wait around today and leave tonight or tomorrow but she was insistent on me leaving on time. I've caught an arc welder burn in the eyeball before but this is about five times worse.

Posthole, I have done the very thing your wife did a couple of times now but have never gone to the Dr. for it. Rest assured, I can sympathize with her pain as that hurts like a mofo!

That reminds me of the time I was bear hunting in Canada. We always stayed in a remote log cabin on an island at the far end of Horwood Lake (Ontario). Many times, we'd be sitting at the small "kitchen" table in front of a large window where we could look out over the lake as we ate, or just sat b/s'ing. I got in the habit of always leaving my binoculars on the table so if we spotted anything along the shoreline (bear, moose, wolf, Bald Eagle, etc.), we could grab the binocs and get a closer look.

One year, I flew home and had my binocs and Buck hunting knife in my checked bag. When I got home, they were BOTH missing. :angry1
