'The Dark Web'.

WTF? These people who prey on the uniformed are no better than those who they claim to protect against.

There are ads running now advising people that they can protect them from the 'dark web'. They somehow know these dark danky websites and can look to see if they have your number or not.
which is 100% unadulterated bullshit.
There are lots of 'dark' private ip networks that are encrypted and are not open to the public. Most are run by companies and are perfectly legal. The bad guys have them too, but the danger on the net to regular folks can't be avoided for $10 a month or whatever these assholes charge.
My point is they are scaring people to get them to buy their service.

I was just noticing that last night. It seems everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. THE DARK WEB!!!! That one credit monitoring company says they'll monitor THE DARK WEB 24/7 to keep you safe. Lynn got a bit pissed when I hollered BULLSHIT! She asked why I have to get so excited about a stupid tv commercial.

You should obscure your IP address. That will accomplish something.
