That crap grows everywhere in Oklahoma. I must've picked up a little bit when I was working on my yard earlier this week. Just a small spot on the inside of my forearm, which of course rubs against everything.

Dad gum!

I've got hay fever, asthma, high blood pressure, cataracts, diabetes, fat, ugly, big nose and a short appendage but the good Lord said that's enough for any one man so I'm not allergic to poison ivy. Small blessings greatly appreciated

you're lucky!

Benedryl ans steroid shots are my best friend some years! I also learned early to avoid smoke in campfires that have poison oak growing on the wood. Bad juju.

I'm one of the lucky ones.. Pretty much a non-issue for me. I did an article, years ago, and had a professor who deals in such things, tell me everyone is born with some tolerance.. some have virtually none - some have lots. Every time you are exposed you lose some of that tolerance. So, it's possible one may not get it for years.. then.. bam.

Anyway - I've never fooled to much with fall mushrooms but found the mother-lode of Chicken Of The Woods. As you can see, this batch is guarded by the "leaves of three". Just tried some - mild - good - certainly not morels. Anything like this in your part(s) of the country?

We have them but I've never tried them. I need to find some old hand at shrooming to teach me the ways of fungi. About the only id I'm sure of are morels.

I don't trust myself, enough at all, when it comes to id'ing and eating wild mushrooms.....I'm not really a mushroom craver, either Cap....sorta like eating a piece of an old kitchen sponge.....however, my wife can eat a jar of the sto-bought ones, by herself. ;)

I'm not much on identification either but the mushrooms I bought last week were chicken and the kid said they gre up the side of trees so I thought that is what those were. Bought some lobster mushrooms too.

I have a friend in Wisconsin that grows his own shiitake mushrooms. They drill little holes into small logs put the spores in then seal them with the special type of wax and then let nature do it's course.
