Fall starts this week, just a hint of color starting, we've had a cool wet summer, will be interesting to see what happens.
9365
Last few days temps have been 90+, not much of start for fall. Little change in a week
9383
Color is very late this year, usually this time in Oct. we're close to peak , still looks to be a week away
9435
Temps are dropping, low 40's this morning, color is starting to finally show up.
9447
A big change in one week, look for the peak next week.
9451
It's mostly gone. Last week we had 4 days of rains (5.5") and heavy winds. Did not do the autumn colors a favor.
This AM awoke to see this, so for the next 5 months we go from Technicolor to 50 shade of gray

Cool and wet usually means good color. I'm looking forward to the weekly updates!

It amazes me how much further along they are than the South.
We still having 90 degree days here.

We've been really warm here too. Not much color at all. In fact we spent the weekend on the lake for my daughter's birthday tubing and running the jet skis.

Well, in a way, it would have if you were Thai. The Thai word for "cold" in English is "hnaw". (pronounced "NOW") ;)

Like that down here too jb. We haven't had a good frost yet and the leaves in some of the lower elevations never really fired up, they just turned brown and dropped.

Was out fishng on Tuesday and the persimmons and sumac and softwood trees like ash and locust are either turned or have lost their leaves. Seems like the harder woods are still green as they can be. We might not have much fall color here but we’ll have to see. Which is strange be ause we’re 8” over normal for rainfall and its the dry years that usually rob us of color. Not so this year.

Maybe we should ask Al.

Warmish and LOTS of rain. Monsoon season has started. Another storm (3rd in a row) is heading in right now.

The weather here has been absolutely PERFECT lately ..... high 70's - low 80's during the day. But that Yankee cold front is going to reach all the way down here Tuesday night. Monday will be 83/70 ... 80 on Tues, but that night it's supposed to drop to 58! Starting Wednesday we'll be hitting 71/51, 75/54, 79/63, 81/64, 77/55, 74/54 & 76/58. I'll love those temps, but most people down here will be thinking the next Ice Age has begun!

The only good thing is I hope the white stuff stays around for deer season.

Are you still leasing land up north of you, Bubba?

BKb

jb
10-31-2017, 11:16 AM
Their are 180 acre of woods we have exclusive access to, it touches a few thousands acres of Nation Park Land on two sides.
Very mature hardwoods, beech, maple, pine, very hilly with deep draws, not a lot of ground cover but you can see for 100;s of yards through it.
It contains the only water in the area and is a travel corridor for the deer.
Decent population with a good-un ever now and them. It's right in the middle or our DMQ so any buck needs to have at least 3 points per side, with your second tag good for a min. 8 pt.
Because it's private land we get a land owners permit for does, #1 & 2 have these.
Opening day is on the 15th, we'll see what happens
What new this year is a big black bear showing up on our trail cam, we have lots of yotes, but this is the first year ever for a bear.
