I heard Tom Petty is in the hospital and one unconfirmed report he's dead. He has been a huge musical influence for me. He is a fantastic songwriter. No idea how many times I've seen him live but it's quite a few over the years.

Dang! That sucks. I know he was addicted to heroin for many years. You always have to wonder if he suffered any permanent damage that came back to bite him in the butt later. I hope he was clean and it wasn’t another of those typical “rock star deaths”. What a tragedy. So much talent lost today. :(
