That was what the previous baseball commissioner did to get the team he owned into the league they wanted to be in. They have a statue of the asshole at their ballpark in Milwaukee. Nothing like using your position to feather your nest.
And in the name of quicker and stronger karma (kinda l8ke justice but better) the Brewers replace the Cubs as the lamest team in the NL.

Landis is was quite a character. Some of the things I've read said he wasn't against having black players as much as the owners were, he simply didn't encourage it. Course in the 30's and 40's segregation was involved in practically everything.
