I was digging through a junk drawer while working on a vacuum cleaner motor replacement project and came across these two little bottles. It immediately brought a smile to my face. Bassdog, Julie and I were camping and fishing on a lake in the Arrowhead of Minnesota. Saganaga Lake, right on the edge of the BWCA. Around 1991 I think.
The blackflies were like japanese zeroes. So we stopped in a little almost backcountry store and I found these on the shelves. I thought it was hilarious that the bite balm came in the same package as the repellent. If you’ve ever been fishing around ravenous blackflies, you will understand it perfectly.
