I was going through my art files and came across this drawing I drew quite a long time ago. I still like the "feel" of this drawing. Just sharing for the heckuva it. It takes me back to my trip to South Africa and seeing first hand all the amazing wildlife there. Nyala are my favorite of all the African antelope.

Why nyala and not eland? Big and easy to hit plus it'll feed a whole village

The colors on a nyala in real life are breath taking. Eland on the other hand borderline an ugly step sister in comparison. If a donkey and a Clydesdale had a colt, then you added spiral horns, you would have an eland. ;)

That's amazing. The reflection really is incredible. I have 0 artistic talent so I'm going to ask a stupid question. After drawing the animal do you flip the art upside down and draw the reflection. It boggles the mind how anyone can do this.

Wow Hombre! I've been staring at that exact thing for the last 15-20 minutes! The more I looked at it, the more confused I'd get. I kept focusing on the angle of the legs in the reflection. Sometimes it looked incorrect, then my mind would flip sides and they'd appear to be angled the correct way, then I'd bounce back to incorrect. After a while I'd confused myself so many times, I have no clue what's going on!

Note: If you have 0 artistic talent, I'd be around a -5. ;)

I did the exact same thing Thump I think that's what amazed me the most I can even get it right in my head so even if I had the talent I wouldn't be able to create the image.

The reflection angles are correct. No I didn't flip it upside down, although there are times with other drawings I do. I can pretty much draw a subject upside down or right side up. At this point it really doesn't make much difference to me, but when I was young it was a lot more challenging.

Maybe that's it! Hombre and I are just youngin's!! ;)

It got so bad at one point, I considered getting Lynn's hand mirror, then putting my finger at various angles along the edge just to see what it looked like! I can't believe something so seemingly simple had me so cornfuzzled. :huh

And you need to dust off that tall stool of yours. You know what to do with it. ;)

Nyala are on my bucket list if I ever get to Africa.

Then again, so are Gemsbok, Kudu, and Cape Buffalo.

There is also a super high percentage of HIV/aids... Literally high enough we weren't allowed to take any primate skulls home. I guess those rumors are true...
