The missus and I got up at the butt crack of O’ Dark Thirty yesterday to see if we could find a gobbler or two. Though things looked much better than the wonderland we hunted last weekend,

our lack of scouting turned up a major problem as we didn’t find any birds at our first two locations.

Plan C had me climbing a hilltop to see what I could see. I was just about to throw in the towel when I spotted a couple of fan tops a half-mile away. Game on!

Long story short The Missus missed and the flock headed into the hills across the river. A 15 mile drive gets us across the river too and the search is on to find the flock. We did.

Back when I turkey hunted ... I'd cut out the breasts and throw the rest the crap out for the coyotes. (they have to eat too, ya' know)

Doesn't Bwana make jerky out of his? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Jimmy is correct, turkey jerky it THE BOMB! We have made turkey nuggets using a spiced flour coating which is good, but my turkey jerky is GREAT stuff.

Very cool. After trying to cook my first wild turkey like a convention domestic turkey in an oven, we decided there had to be a better way. It was tough and pretty gamey. So we found a great recipe to make teriyaki jerky. Wild turkey tastes so good as teriyaki jerky that my wife would have to hide it from my kids and their friends, so I could have some by the time I'd get home from work. It's pert near like candy, only better!
