Come the first week in June I'm headed north to west-central Manitoba on my first ever black bear hunt. The gents that I am going with are died-in-the-wool archery hunters and they are STRONGLY urging me to use my bow instead of a rifle. Now I used to bow hunt quite a bit but up until last fall, it had been quite some time since I had done much bow hunting. To be honest, I am much more confident with a rifle but I don't really have a rifle set up for close-up action and I wasn't real eager to either take the scope off of my deer rifle or switch to a low-power scope.
A couple of weeks ago i was talking with one of the other CTL coaches and he said, "I have the perfect rifle for you!" Long story short, here she is:
