Okay, so I know my curmudgeonliness is probably showing, but the first time I saw the tv commercial for the new GMC tailgate the first words out of my mouth were “Well there’s something else the m——————s can steal”. Anyone who has had GM pickup product knows how easy it is to walk up and remove a GM tailgate and walk right the eff off with it. Last I checked, it was $500 for a new one and that was several years ago. What will this one go for? $2000 minimum I’ll bet.

Toyotas come off just as easily by the way. But at least you can lock them.

Up here with the winter salt, they'll be good for a couple of years
Then you won't be able to open them or unfold them

Great commercial. Looks like one more thing to screw up though.

One would think that if they can engineer something to do this much stuff they could engineer a gate opener and closer you could operate without having to get out.

I’m filing a grievance with the Gate Bitches Union Local 613

My oldest showed me this just last night. Very interesting.

And about tailgates, someone backed into my 2010 F150 and put a did a hell of a job on it ... right under the badge (had to be another big truck). I took it the shop, and with the rear camera, badges, and all that shit.... new tailgate was $1,900.

I can open the tailgate from the cab of my F150, but I have to close it, manually.....Ford's new step-up tailgate beats the crap outta that GMC's.

I've got the step up tailgate option on my F350 and it's the cats ass for us vertically challenged types. Simple. That GM version looks designed to fail.

Have you tried it at about 80?

911 calls received after Texas sign company makes truck sticker depicting kidnapped woman

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/08/article-2415339-1BB065E2000005DC-239_634x351.jpg

A tailgate decal on the back of a truck that shows a woman to be bound and tied in the back, is causing a bit stir in Texas.

At first glance, the optical illusion given off by the decal is so convincing that it really does appear that there is a woman in the back.

The sticker is the work of Hornet Signs, a marketing and advertising company in Waco.

According to Brad Kolb, the owner of the company, the sticker was put on an employee’s truck to gauge how realistic their decals are.

'I wasn't expecting the reactions we got, nor do we condone this by any means,' Mr Kolb told KWTX.
