One of my Uncles passed away last week and we had the funeral today. I can’t remember if I mentioned it when I lost my Mom, but she was one of 7 siblings, 4 boys and 3 girls. 5 of the 7 have now died in less than a year. One of my Uncles passed away back in the early ‘90’s so there is only one left.

I guess the only good thing that has came out of it is there has been a lot of reconnecting between the cousins. Here is a pic of 10 of the first cousins with my remaining Uncle in the middle.

The family resemblance is strong!

My Mom, 82, is the last of her sibs. Those folks are the remains of the greatest generation of Americans we’ve ever produced, and maybe the world.

I’m sorry to hear of your loss, Pat.

I feel your pain, my mom was one of 8 kids and over the last 2 years 5 of them have passed away and my mom was the oldest at 69 years old.

Must be something in the water. I just got word yesterday that my cousin (we grew up close) just passed away from cancer. She was only 60. Her twin brother passed away at 27 from melanoma.

I’m with mom now. My baby sister and I get here every morning at 7:00 am, then my oldest sister comes in after work at 5:00 to give us a break. Mom’s up and down. A bit of a back slide yesterday, but talking and moving better today. We’re working to set up a rehab fascillity now so we’ll be ready when they release her.

Yesterday she didn’t recognize me, but today she asked my sister why we were together and said she thought I lived in Florida. I told her I’ve been here every day, but she doesn’t remember it.

She has another procedure coming up tomorrow, so that’ll probably knock her on her butt again for another day or two. All we can do is take it one day at a time for now. Thank you guys for all your support. This is pretty tough duty. :(
