I was reading something about a bill that has some mighty big changes to West Virginia deer season. What are those crazy hillbilly cousins tryin to do? You know anything about it?

Not that I know of Arty.

I know they were talking about letting you use dogs to track wounded deer. And there was mention of the possibility of allowing land owners to hunt bear over bait. But that's all I know of.

Was it something else? You never know what those jokers in Charleston might cook up. :)

I saw something that this past year they implemented a January “Mountain Heritage” deer season for truly primitive weapons like flintlock rifles and recurve bows. I think that’s pretty cool.

Yep that was cool. I hope they can resist the urge to open it up to pseudo modern weapons like they did for muzzle loading season.

Course they did schedule it for a strange time of the year. It can be as cold as a Mother-in-law's love in the early parts of January.

I tried reading through it and still don't know what it says! :p

I'll see if the local papers have a synopsis.

Yeah, that sounds like something those dufi in the capital would think up. Sometimes I wonder why we don't shorten the legislative session to about one week a year to keep them from having too much time on their hands. :)

I'll check over and see if it goes anywhere Arty. Thanks for the heads up.

Are you talking about primitive? Bow? Modern? After you get your first buck, then head back out the next day and knock down another one, how are they gonna know what weapon you shot the first one with? Do youse dufes have to check in with the fish cops for each kill? :huh

I assume it’s by the season (archery, muzzleloader, rifle) and not just by the weapon. I don’t know how it works in WVa, but in VA you can hunt with a bow or a ML during rifle season. But, you’re governed by the rules of the rifle season when you do. Our tags are not weapon/season specific though.
