Heading out shortly for the North Dakota Clay Target League State Shoot. Hoping the weather holds and the kids shoot to their abilities.

Fingers crossed.

Wish us luck.

Peace out!

Well, what a weekend! The kids did AWESOME!

We ended up with numerous kids and teams that either placed or won their respective conference and even more that did the same during this weekend's shoot. (The 6 Bismarck/Mandan area high schools all work together to help one another out during the year so we get to know all of the coaches, volunteers, and kids from each school which is REALLY cool. Given we have a combined total of over 200 kids shooting it truly takes a village...)

As for my specific side of things; our Junior Varsity team took 2nd place, we had top female in both the Varsity and JV categories, we had a number of shooters in the top 10 for their category (including my daughter who tied for 6th with an 80/100), and most importantly LOTS of smiles for jobs well done.

Though quite a time investment and a good bit of work, it is SO worth seeing the confidence these kids gain, the friendships forged, and the satisfaction of being part of a team as some of them are just not a ball sport type of kid but they sure do excel when it comes to shooting clay pigeons!

I was TOTALLY wiped out by the time my head hit the pillow last night, but I went to sleep with a smile on my face. Good times for certain.

She does and even more shocking is that she was talked into shooting on a trap league with some of the other coach's wives this summer. She readily admits that she didn't do it for the chance to shoot more, but for the chance to socialize after the shooting is over.
