The current Indycar champion, Josef Newgarden, did some demo laps on the Charlotte Roval yesterday after the Cup series qualified. There had been no testing prior on the track so Firestone did not have a tire ready for the specifics of that track.

It's cool listening to the NASCAR guys talk about the car. The best part was when they told Clint Bowyer the lap time, he said "Thank God they did that after everybody left." Newgarden's fifth lap on the course was 11 seconds faster than William Byron's pole speed.

His best lap time was 13 seconds faster than the Cup pole speed. If Indycar were to race on that setup, I’d bet the pole speed would be in a couple of seconds faster yet.

Yep, it’s always been said, with all the downforce an Indy car produces, it could theoretically stay on the track if both were inverted. In other words, if the track were suspended in the air, an Indy car could run on the bottom, upside down (at speed of course).
