I think it’s pretty cool when they make these discoveries. The group founded by Paul Allen has found another WWII wreck. This time it’s the Japanese carrier Kaga which took part in the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was sunk at Midway. The same group previously found the Yorktown which was also sunk at Midway and also the Hornet which took part in the battle of Midway and was sunk a short time later. They also found the wreck of the Indianapolis.

Pretty convenient timing with the new Midway movie coming out in a couple of weeks.

Looks like they have found another of the Japanese carriers, the Akagi this time.

The Akagi was the flagship of that Midway fleet. Toshiro Mifune played Admiral Yamamoto, the commander of that fleet in the movie Midway. And another little tidbit, in the movie ‘Midway’, they dubbed an english speaking actor’s voice over Mifune’s. The voice was Paul Freez, who was also the narrator of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. So every time I see Midway,which is at least once a year, i bust out laughing at Yamamoto’s voice.
