None of my bidness, but next time, pick up your phone, call your nearest farm co-op, and they'll deliver your cat food, unload it, and stack it wherever you want it......at least, my farm co-op does it with my dry bagged feed and products from 20 miles away.

Price is the key Mudward. I'm sure we have a farm store or two around here, not sure (never looked). I do have a Tractor Supply close to the house, but I never thought to check with them.

P-hole, I won't even mention the cost of a dump truck load of kitty litter! (Actually, it's delivered to the house by Chewy)

Vet bills??? I've probably financed quite a few Hawaii trips for our vet.

Well, I just found the local farm supply store here in town. It's been here for a hunnert years! I also checked Tractor Supply. Sam's beats 'em all to heck on food and Chewy's beats 'em on litter. I may shop them for flea treatment next time around (I usually buy it on eBay). We've shopped through the years and pretty much know where the best prices are. Sam's had a sale ($3-off per bag), so I loaded up today.

okay - I guess I'm in the dark here.. I had two coon hounds, 2 bird dogs and 6 beagles - at once.. and never bought 600 pounds at at pop.. So... how many freaking cats are we talking..?..

I knew you've mentioned taking in a stray or two - but there has to be more to this story.. Donating it to a shelter? I hope?

Naaa, just found a home for one last week. We’re down to 12, plus a few neighborhood cats who stop by for a free snack from time to time. It was just a killer price, so I loaded up. We also donate here and there. There’s a local group who trap strays (colonies), have them neutered/spayed, give them their shots and return them to the colony. I have an estate sale company that lets us in 15-mins. early if we bring a donation for the local ASPCA (I take a gallon ZipLoc). Lynn carries food/water in her car at all times and will leave it for strays she runs across. We’ll probably use half, donate half.

I talked to my buddy in Hawaii (Maui) last night. He calls his wife the "Crazy Cat Lady". I told him about the load of food I picked up and he said I have a LONG way to catch up with him. His wife runs what some might call a cat sanctuary at his house (they have a large piece of property). She somehow convinced a cat food mfg. company to donate a whole shipping container of food to her. It cost her $7000 for shipping from the mainland, but she sold half of it to cover the cost, then kept half to feed her rescues! Ummmm, that's a little more than I'd consider tackling!
