Being a good neighbor

My neighbor and his wife have taken off on a month long vacation and he asked me to look after his garden while he was gone so we've been watering it for him as needed.This morning I noticed that a couple of his tomato plants were so loaded they looked as if they might break off the limbs. Not being a wastrel I lightened their load by removing some of the bigger green ones and they perked right up. I then noticed that some of the squash was going to be too big to eat in a couple more days so not wanting them go bad I added them to the maters. In a week or so some of the okra is going to start getting tough so I'll have to address that soon. As I was leaving it looks like his beets need to be thinned too

It never hurts to be a good neighbor.

I found four 1/2 pints of fig preserves the other day and fooled around and knocked the box over and broke one. I'll try to talk her into letting me send the other three to you
