foodie topic lately, so this is what woke me up from my nap today. It ought to go good with a bowl of soup I’ve got leftover from lunch.

My good wife got a sourdough starter and has been on a bread making kick lately, about 15 loaves a week. She's been taking them to the old folks that are shut in from the covid. I'm diabetic so I only allow myself one slice a day

oh and another thing, good sandwich bread is hard to find now, at least it is for me....I paid $3 for a loaf of bread the other day "brand name"....my $0.87 Walmart bread was better!....Grrrrr!.....I feel like the "don't smell the Charmin" guy when I'm picking out bread.

Funny, we’re both in our 60’s and we talk about the old folks. I remember when my dad was about 90, he got in his truck one day and told me he was going to go check on some of the old folks around town.

I guess age is relative

My parents are in their 80’s and still take food to shut-ins, as they call them, to this day. They said they’d leave stuff at the door this year at Thanksgiving.
The local food bank here gets our donation of food.

Its time to be thankful!

There were three more this morning

that sourdough starter is getting a workout

Been baking bread for quite a while now. It gives me pleasure and satisfaction (used to be something else that did that but...) to create something so basic but so GOOD. Tried the sourdough thing but it gave me such a case of gas that even TW would have been proud so I had to quit. Tasted great but the 'end' result was explosive.
