The only wrong statement here is you used Russian instead of Chinese.

I think its an Okie lead hack. Wasn't access gained through SolarWinds software? And, isn't SolarWinds a Tulsa founded comoany? Seems the prices are coming together.

I got burned out with the news through the last few years and this last election period finally just pushed me over the edge. I went on a news hiatus a day or so after the election and have pretty much stuck to it except for a few short check-ins with my local news station. I have caught short glimpses of some sort of hacking coverage, but truthfully, I haven't paid a bit of attention to it and am clueless as to what's been going on. Right now, keeping my head buried in the sand has made for a happier life, but I'm sure I'll eventually get dragged back into current events. FOX, CNN and their ilk? I got so fed up with their bullshit, it'll take me a LONG while to check back in with them. The proliferation of cable and it's 24/7 news coverage has totally ruined it for me. There's not enough NEWS to garner that amount of coverage, so they've all filled in the blanks with nothing but commentary (most of which can be thrown into the "fake news" category) ... which only leans whichever political direction the networks choose.

TBH, I have not missed it one bit ... but I'll admit I sometimes feel a little guilty for becoming a member of the "uninformed" crowd lately.

Opinions. You know what they say about them. Until there is irrefutable evidence then we are just expressing our opinions, biased as they be by our particular needs. Nobody here knows any more about this than the other guy. Personally, my opinion is that all enemy agencies are in play.

As a former spy myownfineself ... I can guaran-damn-tee you that EVERY dang country on earth, that's worth a hill of beans, is spying on each other. It doesn't matter ... enemies spy on each other and allies spy on each other. Our embassies in foreign countries are mini spy stations and foreign embassies in our own country are most certainly spy stations. It's the way the world works. The U.S. spied on it's citizens AND enemies during WWI and it got even heavier in the 40's, also with our own government spying on our own citizens. (Projects SHAMROCK and MINARET for example) Sure, those programs were pretty much a necessary evil during wartime, but it continued through to the mid-70's! But those programs were simply replaced with others. Of course, spying on other nations is pretty much a given and is a fulltime job of most any government.

This isn't spying anymore. This is cyber warfare. If these latest attacks are perpetrated by any govt then this is an act of war. Just got to figure out with who.

Yep, I guess there is a distinction, but much of the spying being done is THROUGH cyber warfare. When a foreign entity breaks into our defense department files, I'd say there's some spying going on. If they just install viruses to bring a certain company or agency to a grinding halt, I guess that's cyber warfare. I'm not sure exactly where the line would be drawn. If they gain access to classified information ... it's flat out spying imho.
