Do you ever use willow hoops to stretch your beaver hides like the old timers did

Never have sold beaver anything but green hides. I did have a friend who was big into the mountain man rendezvous thing. I used to give him one every year, or so, and he would do it like the old timers.. brain tan and all. I have some some pics somewhere but they are all "pre-digital"..

Ha ha! I know what you mean Hidey-ho .... I have bazillions of old hunting pics but they're all on floppy disc. I still have the photos, but just don't have the energy to scan the things again.

I have some I’ve found that are on 3.5” discs and I don’t have a single computer that has a drive like that.

We always stretched coon and beaver on a square frame built of 1x4's. Possums and fox were stretched on an ironing board shaped 1x8. I've spent a few nights sitting by the heater with a spoon scraping hides. A lot of work is right
