Sunday grilling. I'm a big fan of Snake River farms meat, and these didn't disappoint. It was their black grade Porter House Wagyu.

apparently somebody has a very different definition of porterhouse than me, That's getting into club steak territory in this old butchers mind. It is marbled up nicely, bet it was tasty........specially with some catsup

Thanks fellas. It turned out pretty well. It was a bit thicker cut that I would have gotten had I went to the butcher but all in all I couldn't complain too much.

Hard to complain about (genuine) Wagyu, no matter the grade!

I am a big fan of Snake River Farm's steaks. They are the closest I've had to Japanese A5, wagyu. That being said I've done a bit more research lately and most US Wagyu is crossbred with Angus. In the 90s purebred Japanese Wagyu were exported to the US, but in the late 90s Wagyu cattle were determined to be a national treasure and it is now illegal to export them. So, a lot of the American Wagyu is only 50% Wagyu.

There's a ranch in Ohio Double8 that does have purebred Wagyu so I'm going to try them next.

Interesting. I thought Wagyu was like Champagne ... if it doesn't come from Champagne, France ... it has to be called "Sparkling Wine". Same with Vidalia onions ... they have to be from Vidalia, Georgia to be called Vidalias. I had no idea US grown beef could be called Wagyu.

Looks good. I’ve been using American Waygu flank steak on Tacos for a while now and the taste difference is amazing.

What a coinky-dink! I just received a text from my buddy here in town. He asked how our weekend went, then sent me a pic of what he cooked for lunch yesterday. Perfect timing, as I guess it fits right in to this thread! (1.25 lbs)

My local Harris Teeter carries it fairly regularly at about $15/lb.

I had to reattach the first two pics. For some reason they came up as "invalid attachments" after I posted them originally.
