... that this place is dying on the vine. We have enough in the kitty to fund the place for another year and I'll be paying the renewals in persactly a month from now, but I'm a bit concerned we're getting to the point there's not enough activity to carry us through in the future. We're not known for attracting new members (I think our "good ol' boys" friendship may have something to do with it) and really haven't had any newbies since my infamous raid to do some shit-disturbing at All-Outdoors to try to sucker some of those nasty road hunters and sissy fly fishing boys to follow me back over here to kick my ass. ;)
Due to attrition ... our friends passing away, Yuppies defecting to Facebook and people simply disappearing for whatever reasons ... there just ain't nuttin' happening around here. It's like a marriage ... at first, there's no limit to things to talk about and after years of being together, you know everything there is to know about each other and have prolly heard it all 100 times anyway. You end up on the sofa watching tv and only grunt from time to time when you need to rip one!
Now, I DO know that this place always got slow during the summer ... even way back in the beginning, so I hope that's all it is. This site has always been the FIRST place I check in when I get on this ol' 'puter, THEN I move on to checking email, etc. But heck, lately, I check into a page that hasn't changed since yesterday (or worse) and it starts my day off as a bit of a downer. Back in the day, if I went many hours without checking in, I'd have 20-30 posts to catch up and comment on.
Some of it can even be due to our aging population and dropping of the hobbies that originally brought us together in the first place (I fall into that category). Anybody got anything new to talk about? Any new aches and pains? Has your arthritis (or rheumatism) been bothering ya' lately? Any o'youse dufes had new dentures fitted lately? Is the Viagra/Cialis still working, or have the blood pressure meds rendered them almost useless? Had any weird moles or skin oddities pop up recently? How are those knees and hips doing? Do you even remember this website is here or why you walked into a particular room this morning? Are you waiting on your new glasses with your updated prescription so you can even see your keyboard to post here?
