Tell me if it's worth borrowing money to buy a Weatherby Vanguard S2 .257 Weatherby Magnum with six bullets shot through it for $450.00.

Thank you.

I think Sky may still be sick....had pm contact with him a few days ago, and he sounded sicker than a gagging goose. ;)

You better pass on that Bucky, just give me the guys name & ph, I will call him and tell him you aren't interested. In all seriousness that sounds like a good deal. I think the absolute plane Jane ones Run about $600ish new if you get the "Range Certified" (used to be branded Sub MOA) they run about $1100. If you don't want let me know.

While the price is right and I love that caliber, she's very expensive to feed, and I doubt you'll be happy with her. Pretty hard to justify the price of ammo for those things. Even if you reload they are spendy in comparison to most standard calibers.

I already saw that, BS. Honestly, since I see zero deer a year, I don't shoot many rounds once I sight it in, and I doubt I'd use this gun every hunt anyway. After sighting it in, I bet a box of ammo would last me a lot of years. Heck, I bought a bunch of the SPF 130g Intebonds for Sweetness in .270 and I will never have to buy any more in my life.

My questions are.........how well will it kill deer, especially at 300 yards+ (I'll shoot the 110 g Nosler Accubond)..........and is this a good price?

Heck, never mind. I just found one brand new in Picayune, MS of all places for $478............. Trav, the Vanguard S2 is not that expensive. These aren't Accumarks.

And yes this is an impulse buy, with borrowed money I ain't got, for something I don't need, at a time when I ain't got none. It's same as women buying shoes. But this is one caliber I ain't got, and want.....and is dang near close to completing my 'collection' forever.........

So there.

I dont' think you'll like it, but buy it if you want to. Price is right if it's SUB-MOA version of the Vanguard. If not, then you could do better than $450.00. I would not pay a penny more than $400.00 for a standard, everyday, plain vanilla Vanguard.

Oh and yes, it will kill deer out to 300 yards, but at those ranges you won't notice any difference between it and your 270.

Neither will the deer, I suppose. Deer don't care how they die.:wavey

I taught the gubmint how to did this, dude.

One year I added up EVERY nickel I spent.......and it was so far above my 1040 AGI it wasn't funny. Course, I had kids.

I have an ulterior motive for this one........that I don't wanna get into. Only place I haven't looked is Walmart......they can order Howa's, and that's all this is.........and I may regret not checking them out. In fact, I just might wait on this one and 'hope' it's still around, and go check out Walmart's prices.

Ouch.

Walmart is $619.00!!! My local gun shop is $580.00.

Looks like this is a steal even with FFL fees.
