I can remember, when I was a kid, we had a little mom & pop, neighborhood convenience store right around the corner. I’d collect Coke bottles from around the neighborhood to collect the deposit (got 2-cents apiece for them) and buy candy, an ice cream bar, or whatever. It had a screen door at the entrance that had one of those advertising push bar thingies on it. It said, “Merita bread - 2 (loaves) for 25-cents.”

When I worked at a grocery store during high school you could still buy a candy bar and a pop for a buck and I’m a lot younger than most of you yahoos.
