I don’t know the real scoop. My personal opinion is that he’s a principled man who made a mistake. And the mistake got made into a bigger issue than it probably was. And he took responsibility for it. It doesn’t make him unprincipled or racist. But people do make mistakes. The ones we should worry about are the ones who don’t own them.

From what I read he was basically reading something off a screen. I can’t imagine why that warrants him having to resign.
