Well, we hammered our way across the country for our THIRD drive from Florida to California in the past 6-months. (That’s not counting our 6000 mile trip buying diesel fuel for that lumbering beast of a motorhome). THIS trip was a … well, it’s hard to think of ANYTHING pleasant about buying gas these days … but it was a nice surprise.
On road trips, I do ALL the driving and Lynn is my Navigator and fuel-stop planner. Once on the road, she said she’s refusing to stop for fuel ANYWHERE that has the first number as a “3” in its price … and she actually did it! Well, until we hit California that is, but I gave her a pass on that one.
Our best? Well, I told her I was due for gas and she barked out an exit number. Damn! We were just passing the exit and I couldn’t make it over in time. $2.29/gal!! Damn! I told her to find me another one and we caught a stop a couple exits down the road in Beaumont, Texas. She didn’t match the $2.29, but I’ll give her an at’ta boy anyway! (Note: the $2.29 was at a Sam’s Club also)
