June 6, 1944. A lot of brave (and scared) men and boys fought and died for all of us. I've been to Normandy and walked the beaches that they stormed and can barely imagine what it must have been like for them. Perhaps the best re-creation was the opening scene in "Saving Private Ryan". We should never forget.

Amen.

My Uncle wasn’t at Normandy, but on June 6, 1944 he was in Rome as part of the 85th Infantry Division that had liberated Rome the day before.

I had an uncle that did the Italian campaign in one of the British regiments, not sure which. He was a sniper. Best rifle shot I ever knew but couldn't hit a barn door with a shotgun. Funny that.
