Thursday - Monday Games (Aug 31- Sept 3)

NC State @ UConn: Wolfpack rolls the Huskies 45-20

Florida @ Utah: I'm not convinced that Napier is the 2nd coming of Urban Myers. Utah 31-17

Nebraska @ Minnesota: If this wasn't a road game I'd pick the Bug-eaters but I'll say Gophers 30-21

Fresno State @ Purdue: Boilermakers are of unknown quality at the moment so I'll say Purdon't 28-21

Virginia @ Tennessee: Joe Milton who is said by many to be able to throw a football at twice the speed of light will lead the Vols to a 42-24 win

Colorado @ TCU: I'm hoping the Frogs beat "Prime" by about 600 points but I'll settle for 38-24

Arkansas State @ Oklahoma: A st is picked as one of the 15 worst teams on 2023. Butch Jones will wish he had stayed retired.....Sooners 51-10

Rice @ Texas: Arch Manning enters the game late and shows the NIL sponsors that they might should have waited another year to dish out all that money. He seems to be a good kid and I wish him well in many Texas losses. Shorthorns 37-17

Western Carolina @ Arkansas: Hogs rush for 250+ as KJ Jefferson continues too make bad reads and erratic throws. Hogs 42-34

North Carolina @ South Carolina: Maye or Rattler. North vs the South. I'm gonna say Tarholes 31-30.

West Virginia @ Penn State: I detest Franklin but the couch burners go down 41-23

Texas Tech @ Wyoming: Ttech is better than advertised. Raiders 45-28

LSU @ Florida State: no last second dramatics this year, I think LSU thumps Felon state 35-24

SE Missouri St.@ Kansas st: Mismatch Kst 45-10

Clemson @ Duke: No DJ Ukulele holding them back this year.............Clempson 35-17

You’re picks are a annual right of passage like the Dr Pepper Fansville commercials, it is officially my favorite time of year.

Glad to see the picks are back! Next thing you know, Trav will be breaking out the pumpin spice lattes.

Of local interest, Kevin Wilson is at the helm with Tulsa. He could make things interesting in the AAC.

Not sure what to expect from the Wolfpack or Hokies this year. State has a new QB via the portal who is supposed to be pretty good. For Tech, time to see if the Tech’s second year coach has been able to make progress in upping the talent level of the team.

Purdue has a tough schedule this year, lost a 6 year QB (extra year because of COVID) who happens to have tore up the NFL preseason as a 4th round pick for the Raiders, new head coach, and new schemes on offense and defense. I have no idea how this season will go. One hopefully bright spot is we got Hudson Card from Texas in the portal.

Who is your new head coach, DD?

DeputyDog

Ryan Walters. He was the DC for Illinois and for Mizzou before that.

While I certainly appreciate sophisticated coffee based beverages I draw the line at pumpkin spice.

I read a bit on this guy and see that he was babysat as a baby by Eric Bienimy. So is he the son of Coach McCartney’s daughter who got knocked up by the team quarterback?

Back when Colorado was good? Even if it was just for a minute?

He was a grad assistant under Stoops at OU back in 2012 too.

Yep. His time under Dan McCarney at NTSU might be the most impressive. That guy produces some good players. Mizzou too.

His defenses at Mizzou and Illinois were pretty highly ranked so I'm hopeful.

As a typical Arkansas fan I'm predicting gloom and doom as usual. 6-6 or maybe 7-5.
Us Razorbacks are born with an inferiority streak a mile wide

I noticed you didn’t handicap TCU - Colorado.

What’s your take on Coach Prime and will Colorado come back respectability?

And can Nebraska have any worse luck?

So the ACC has extended invites to Cal, Stanford, and SMU to join the B1G as a coast to coast conference. I guess the old days of traveling by team bus are long gone. Not even possible for the smaller teams and lower revenue sports.

BarryBobPosthole

The ACC andB1G are merging?

DeputyDog

I worded that poorly. The ACC invited Stanford, Cal, and SMU to join them. If they do, that will put them at 18 teams also that stretch from coast to coast just like the Big Ten.

I think the Buffs will approach respectability this season and in a couple of years become a consistent 8-4 team. I've never been a Deon Sanders fan and that hasn't changed. I certainly didn't like his approach when he arrived in Colorado.

DeputyDog

Nebraska has lost 14 once score games over the past two seasons including this game. Their luck has to change at some point but it probably won't until their discipline does. Bad penalties and turnovers kill that team.

BarryBobPosthole

It sure seems like they’vescrewed things up with the way conference realignment has gone. This will lead us to a Premier League type situation.
Football, with the limited number of games won’t be affected near as much basketball and softball. And most other sports you can think of.

The Big Ten was so much better before they added Penn State and actually had 10 teams. Especially in basketball. You had a true conference champion since each team played all of the others home and away so whom ever had the best record was the true champion.
