I've ALWAYS hated discussing politics .. as well as religion ... and understand full well why the warning "Never discuss religion or politics" is a good rule to follow. You are generally not going to change anybody's way of thinking, but will most likely end up in an argument or at minimum, end up with hard feelings.

I have pretty much quit watching cable news since the last election. I just got so sick of the b/s (from BOTH sides), that I couldn't take it anymore and surprisingly, this former news junkie really hasn't missed it. I'll check into the local news and weather, but that's been it for quite some time now.

BUT ... the primaries are fast approaching and the election will follow. Last night, I decided to channel surf between the Left leaning networks (MSNBC, CNN, et al) and FOX for their totally opposite rhetoric. WTF? How the "F" is Trump even still in the picture? Don't get me wrong, I voted for him ... TWICE! But I was desperate and mostly voting AGAINST his opponent. I'll admit, the first time, I had high hopes that he'd run the gov't like a business and turn things around. The second time, I realized he was a fucking idiot, but I did agree with some of what he did, but I'd been better able to tolerate him if someone had wrapped duct tape around his mouth and amputated his &%$@#(*! Twitter finger. What a frigging maroon!

After looking over the potential field of candidates, I have absolutely no clue who I'd fall behind. For MANY years now (since Reagan), I've only voted AGAINST a Presidential candidate, instead of FOR a candidate I fully endorsed. If it boils down to Trump vs. ANYONE I've seen on the Left ... I may not even bother to vote this time around. Voting has always been something I was proud to do and always felt it was my obligation to do, but I've lost all faith in the system these days. How do you choose the "best" moron out of a barrel of idiots? It's an impossible task, so why bother?

Though unknown to many on the national scale, take a look at ND's governor, Doug Burgum.

He is a super shrewd business man who has done very well for himself, he doesn't tweet, and he likes to hunt.

Given the state of politics and how the news media deals with anyone in public office, I have NO idea why someone would want to put themselves through that...it's definitely not for me.

Not going to discuss politics on here. You know what they say about doing the same thing over and overexpecting a different result. Its nuts!

But that said, I saw a really great couple of episodes about the human brain on Nova (PBS) recently. Science says we only really see with our senses about 10% of what we ‘see’ in our head. And its the same with the other senses. Our brains fill in the other 90%. And I think that’s the way we deal with truth and facts when it comes to life too. What I mean is, when there aren’t a lot of known facts about an issue, we do often fill in the blanks with what we hear from people we want to be able to trust. Its why when you haven’t talked to an old friend in a very long time, your brain can make you wonder a whole bunch of (usually false) stuff about the reasons why.

anyways, I guess that has to be part of it. How else would so many peoplehave such different interpretations of the same facts?

IMO, its a very dangerous part of humanity. Re; holocaust, manifest destiny, world wars, and a whole bunch of other human on human atrocities.

It sure does speak volumes to the sad state of our country if Trump and Biden (again) are the two best we can come up with.

Pick the person or party that is going to work for YOUR country and not some other country. Pretty simple, really.
