The Middle isn't so much a comedy as it is a documentary on Life in Indiana....
The Heck kids are examples of the kids I deal with every day.
One of the funnier aspects is that one of the writers is a best friend of a local teacher's sister.
They grew up in Muncie Indiana(Ball State U)....
There are so many references to their youth and private jokes that those of us who know the family make it sooooo much funnier.
Example.... Two seasons ago the family went to Brown County,(a getaway destination for Indianapolis area... Has a State PArk, and a touristy down town area), on Mother's day... The mom wanted to just stay home and be by herself!
The family met another family and played volleyball.... The new friends were the last name of our local teacher. The family has 5 members.... and they said the name 5 times on the show.
