Ha ha! Been there, done that! Way back in early 1985, when Lynn and I first started dating, we had been out one night and stopped at a small diner in West Hollywood for some breakfast before heading home. We walked in, grabbed a booth, scanned the menu and ordered. We did notice our waiter was gay, but really didn't think anything of it. Then, once we'd ordered and were sitting there waiting for our food, we glanced around and realized we were the ONLY two, straight people in the place ... and it was a pretty busy little diner that time of night (morning). Kinda like an "independent Dennys" ... where people stopped for a bite to eat after the bars closed down.
