What is the name and location of that little file that contains all of your email and such for Outlook?
I used to know....but I forgot it.

.pst is where all your local email is stored. .ost is where online email is stored. Everyone has a .pst, not everyone has an ost.

What is the location of the .pst file? My "Windows Search" thingy doesn't find it.

Belay my last.
I FINALLLLLLLY found it.
Looks like Outlook 2010 puts it in a place I had not looked in before.

Destroy Outlook.

Destroy Explorer.

Go to Mozilla. See the light. Firefox and Thunderbird.

Hell no to Thunderbird!! Used it for a couple of years when Orion suggested it. I hated it and was glad to get back to Outlook.

Now Firefox is the bomb, I've liked it ever since those guys called it Netscape.

Jerry, I forgot to write it down. I'll post it later.

Bubba go to "my computer" the double click your C: drive. You'll see a search window in the top right. Enter "*.pst" (no quotes) and it will search and point you to where the file is.

Knowing where the file is isn't the same thing as cleaning it up. Google "outlook archive cleanup" and you'll see how to do it.

OK. Here's where I found the Outlook Data Files.

(I an running Windows XP and Outlook 2010 on this computer.)

C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook/Outlook (Outlook Data File)

On older versions of Outlook, the "pst" file lived in the Windows directory......unless I am disremembering.
That's why I was having such a hard time finding the file(s) I was looking for.

The new computer has Windows 8 installed. I gots NO idea where it is going to want to put the Outlook Data Files, but I guess I'll find out after I install the program on that machine.
