8 years or so ago I bought a used 870 express youth 20 gage for my oldest to use on his first turkey hunt when he turned 10 years old. It was a plain jane looking shooting iron that did the trick for him and his younger brother on turkeys, pheasants, and clay pigeons plus it has been used a time or two by friends' kids as well.

Well my little girl is soon to be 10 now and turkey season is set to open in a couple of weeks so I decided it was time to give the old shootin' iron a face lift. I wish I would have taken some "before" pictures but I wasn't that smart so you'll just have to imagine the gun with a plain jane pale colored stock on it. My oldest and I tore it apart after which time I did some sanding to take the old makeup off. I decided to try something different on the gun and ended up choosing some colored stain. It's kind of like putting lipstick on a pig but I like the way it turned out.

That does look really nice! Won't have any trouble picking that one out of a crowd.

Way cool. The first thing I did with my first paycheck out of college was buy a Remington 870 Express in 12 gauge. I've killed a whole bunch of critters with that thing over the years.
