Speaking of ammo

Friend of mine was cleaning house and ran across this in his basement, offered him $300 and I took it home.
From what I've learned it's post Korean war, US made, non-corrosive ammo, let those damn zombies come forward.:rocket

It may be .30 carbine ammo also.

Most likely .30-06 ... if I remember correctly, the other would say, "cal. .30 carbine" on the can. Back in the day ... we called those "Spam Cans".

ie; "Bring me a spam can of .30 cal!"

If it's "post Korean War" wouldn't it be .30 caliber ammo for the M-14? That would be .308 rounds. Am I way off base? Were we still using 30-06 rounds post-Korea?

It would be labeled 7.62 then.
